Exploring San Antonio is as easy as hopping on a VIVA culture bus or taking a short bike ride downtown, and cultural districts across the Alamo City are rich in history and experiences. While on campus, take advantage of the international gateway in the city we call home.

Arts and Culture

Neighborhoods near campus, such as King William Historic District, are home to galleries and studios showcasing the work of San Antonio artists and artisans. Monthly, bi-monthly, and annual art walks through historic neighborhoods showcase the works of San Antonio and Hill Country artists and artisans. Annual festivals not only feature art, but music, food, and dance.

A live band performs outdoors at night. A saxophonist plays at the front of the stage while musicians with guitars and drums play behind him. A vocalist in a white shirt and black hat sings into a microphone. Decorative lights and trees create a festive atmosphere.

Dining and Nightlife

Closer to campus, popular Trinity hangouts include Bombay Bicycle Club, Taco Taco Cafe (there’s even one on campus!), the original Taco Cabana, Tycoon Flats, Main Street Pizza, and Chris Madrid’s. Just up the road, students frequent The Quarry Market, with dozens of restaurants, shops, and a movie theater. The St. Mary’s strip, Upper Broadway, and Southtown also feature an eclectic variety of bars and eateries.

Three young adults browse colorful toys and trinkets at an outdoor market stand. One woman holds a woven hand fan while talking with two men, one wearing a Trinity University shirt. The table is filled with bright items and decorations.

Shopping

From upscale malls and shopping centers to Mexican markets and antiques, there’s something for everyone in San Antonio. A 20-minute drive north of campus takes you to the Hill Country where you can experience the Shops at La Cantera, while a 5-minute drive west down Hildebrand offers plenty of opportunities to scavenge for treasures!
